ABOUT

I'M MARIE-MICHELE

I’m a three-time Olympian who spent 17 years competing on the Canadian Ski Team at the highest level of alpine skiing. Throughout my career, I learned firsthand how purposeful strength, mobility, and balance training can transform performance — both on the slopes and in everyday life.

Now retired from World Cup racing, I’m still as passionate as ever about the outdoors. You’ll find me mountain biking, trail running, backcountry skiing, and exploring the mountains year-round. These pursuits fuel my understanding of what it takes to stay strong, balanced, and resilient for a lifetime of adventure.

As a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and Yoga Instructor, I combine my athletic background with evidence-based movement training to help others perform their best. Through Alpine Strength, I share the same training principles that supported my Olympic career — adapted for active people and mountain athletes who want to move better, feel stronger, and keep doing what they love.

THE STORY OF ALPINE STRENGTH

The idea for Alpine Strength started years ago, born from my own evolution as an athlete. I grew up near Quebec City, Canada, and spent 17 years racing on the Canadian Ski Team, training with some of the best coaches and athletes in the world. For much of my career, I followed traditional training methods — until a new coach from Spain joined our team and completely changed my approach. He introduced ski-specific exercises that were unlike anything I’d ever done before. The results were immediate: my skiing improved, I felt stronger, more balanced, more confident, and far less prone to injury. That experience opened my eyes to how targeted, functional training can transform performance both physically and mentally.

Now living in Lake Tahoe, California with my husband Travis Ganong, a former U.S. Ski Team member, I’ve channeled those lessons into Alpine Strength — a training platform built to help active people and mountain athletes reach their potential. My goal is to share the methods that helped me succeed at the highest level, so you can build strength, prevent injury, and feel confident doing what you love in the mountains and beyond.
