About Alpine Strength

I’m Marie-Michele Gagnon – World Cup winner and two time Olympian. I am passionate about my sport, and from my years of experience at the highest competitive level, I have learned how becoming fit in the off season makes my winters that much better.  I want to help all skiers train to ski stronger and enjoy more great days on the mountain.  To do this, I have created a ‘’ski specific’’ program, using exercises that correlate directly to skiing.  Throughout my World Cup career, I have refined these ski specific movements and they are a little different from your average training program. This is where I share my “dry-land” secrets with you – to help you become stronger and stay healthier throughout the ski season.

Why Alpine Strength

I’ve partnered with one of the best physical trainers on the World Cup Alpine Ski tour. With his help, we’ve created fitness programs for all levels of skiers. Our goal is to make great programs accessible to clubs, teams, and the general public in order to enhance skiers’ abilities while preventing injury.  The partnership between myself and physical trainer/ski coach Alejo Hervas is  unprecedented!  We bring years of World Cup expertise to the table and are excited to share our knowledge with you. We are changing the way skiers train at all levels by including ski specific exercises into our world class fitness programs.

Who is this program for?

Alpine Strength is for all skiers who want to perform better on the slopes. From ski racers to recreational skiers (and everything in between), Alpine Strength programs targets ski-specific dry-land training. This means that you will be training your body to perform better on the slopes. The program will help boost your fitness so that you can take more runs, have less injuries, and feel confident to push yourself on the hill. No matter your level of skiing, Alpine Strength will help you take your skills to the next level by creating a stronger fitness baseline for the ski season.

These programs are designed directly based off of my experience over the last 10 seasons training for the World Cup tour.  Needless to say I have had a lot of time to figure out what works and what doesn’t in my personal training and I am excited to share my training secrets with you. These programs are designed for three different age groups, 12 and under, 12-14, and 14+, and are designed to be 8 weeks long.

Alpine Strength is offering two different Recreational Skier Programs: Blue Square and Black Diamond. Both programs are six weeks long and require little to no gym equipment.

How Does it Work?

  • A full progression training block designed for pre-ski-season
  • Easy to follow detailed descriptions
  • Instructional videos from Marie-Michele for each exercise
  • Workouts Include and Focus on: Dynamic Warmup, Functional Movement, Cardiovascular training, Aerobic training, Anaerobic training, Interval training, Isometrics, Plyometrics, & Strength Training. Level and degrees of difficulty depend on age and program.
  • The program follows a progression that builds and then tapers in intensity – based on the final goal and timing of program.
  • With this program, you will:
    • be able to step on skis feeling confident, strong and ready
    • Will be able to immediately progress – with almost no wasted ski days trying to get the feeling back
    • Will be able to improve carving, inclination and acceleration because the necessary muscles will be ready to deliver the goods
    • Will be able to reduce risk of injury and soreness
    • Will be able to lengthen productive ski days
    • Better balance/équilibre
